Buy/sell operations at Iran Mercantile Exchange soar

A total of 1.01 million tons of goods worth more than 104 trillion rials (about $2.49 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) in the last Iranian week (April 10 through April 15, 2021), Trend reports citing the IME’s official website.

This is an increase of 7 percent in terms of value and 36 percent in terms of volume compared to the preceding week (April 3 through April 8, 2021).

So, 745,000 tons of goods worth more than 97.2 trillion rials (about $2.31 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) in the preceding week.

According to the report, about 602,000 tons of goods worth about 53 trillion rials (about $1.26 billion) were sold in the industrial and mining products section of IME last week.

"So, 300,000 tons of iron ore, 291,000 tons of steel, 2,540 tons of copper, 8,520 tons of aluminum, 120 tons of molybdenum concentrate and 200 tons of cast iron were sold in this section," the report said.

In addition, more than 415,000 tons of various oil and petrochemical products worth about 51.4 trillion rials (about $1.22 billion) were sold in the oil and petrochemical products section of IME last Iranian week, the report said.

According to the report, 124,000 tons of vacuum bottom, 143,000 tons of bitumen, 74,500 tons of polymeric substances, 38,100 tons of chemicals, 33,200 tons of lube cut, 2,590 tons of base oil, 150 tons of argon, 250 tons of facades, 1,190 tons of sulfur were sold in this section.

Furthermore, 1,000 tons of various products worth 201 billion rials (about $4.79 million) were sold in the submarket section of the exchange.

At the same time, 2.5 tons of saffron worth 247 billion rials (about $5.88 million) were sold in the agricultural section of the Iran Mercantile Exchange.
