The volume of exports of fruits and nuts from Georgia in the first quarter of 2021 amounted to $36.55 million, Trend reports with reference to the National Statistical Office of Georgia.
The share of fruits and nuts in Georgia's total exports for the same period ($820.64 million) was 4.5 percent.
The main positions in the group were occupied by: hazelnuts - $23.41 million, tangerines - $4.69 million, apples - $3.70 million, dried fruits (excluding citruses and some other fruits) - $0.98 million and almonds - $0.55 million.
Compared to the same period last year, fruit exports increased by 71.5 percent.
From January through March 2020, fruits and nuts were exported for $21.31 million. Their share in the total volume of Georgian exports for the same period ($780.02 million) was 2.7 percent. The leading positions were: hazelnuts - $11.45 million, tangerines - $3.78 million, oranges - $1.32 million, bananas - $0.97 million, apples - 0.86 million and dried fruits - $0.64 million.
