BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26
By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
Georgia has positive expectations for lari’s exchange rate, said the Minister of Finance of Georgia Lasha Khutsishvili, Trend reports via Georgian media.
Khutsishvili said at a government meeting that the exchange rate will stabilize in the short term.
The minister spoke about the factors affecting the exchange rate, noting that the situation in the region as well as the COVID-19 pandemic has a negative impact on Georgia's national currency.
"The National Bank is working in coordination with the government to avoid sharp lari fluctuations. Stability is observed in the short term, however, the country is in a rather difficult situation due to the pandemic, that’s why it’s vital to vaccinate as many people as possible and to restore tourism that will be restored by about 25-30 percent this year," he said.
