Germany continues financing important projects in Georgian energy sector

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 27

Finance Minister of Georgia Lasha Khutsishvili held a virtual meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany Hubert Knirsch, Trend reports via Georgian Ministry of Finance.

At the meeting, Khutsishvili emphasized the successful cooperation between the two countries, both in terms of financial support and in terms of deepening integration with the European Union.

With the support of the German KfW Development Bank, the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), and other German institutions, the German government finances important projects and programs in the field of energy/energy efficiency, urban and municipal infrastructure, and the environment. Germany also supports the building of a social market economy, the rule of law, and democracy in Georgia.

Particular attention was paid to the financial assistance provided by Germany during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is part of the support that the Georgian government received from partner international donor organizations to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and further restore the country's economy.

As noted at the meeting, active work is underway on consultations on cooperation in order to develop relations between the governments of Georgia and Germany.

In conclusion, the parties expressed their readiness to continue active cooperation in the process of implementing the current economic and structural reforms in Georgia.
