Russia discloses value of exports to Azerbaijan from Yaroslavl region in 2020

Exports from the Russian Yaroslavl region to Azerbaijan in 2020 amounted to nearly $8 million, Maxim Avdeyev, deputy chairman of the region’s government said.

Avdeyev made the remark at a meeting of the two countries’ business councils, Trend reports on Apr.28 referring to the Russian media.

According to him, Azerbaijan is among the 20 key foreign trade partners of the Yaroslavl region.

"The export of the Yaroslavl region to Azerbaijan is based on fuel products, medicines, tires, travel equipment, packaging, pipes, paints, and fire extinguishers. The development of exports, which allows enterprises to maintain stability, was set by Governor Dmitry Mironov as one of the priority areas of economic activity," the official said.

According to the Chairman of the Russian-Azerbaijan Business Council Alexey Repik, among the priority projects is the creation of a large logistics hub for cargo arriving by the river, rail, and air transport on the territory of the Yaroslavl region. The respective agreement is expected to be signed during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

The issues of cooperation between the region and Azerbaijan were also discussed within the meeting of the business councils. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, trade missions and business structures of the two countries, the Department of Regional Development and Foreign Economic Activity of the Yaroslavl Region.

The meeting was held in accordance with the objectives of the international cooperation and export national project.

Russian-made products worth almost $450 million were exported to Azerbaijan in the first three months of 2021. Thus, nearly 18 percent of Azerbaijani imports in the reporting period accounted for the products of the Russian enterprises. Russia supplied products worth $433.7 million to Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2020.

The share of the Russian products in Azerbaijani import reached 16.4 percent. The indicators of the Russian export in the current year exceed the data of the ‘pre-COVID-19 pandemic’ 2019.

The main commodity groups of Azerbaijani import in 2021 are engineering products (26.7 percent of all import to the country), food products and agricultural products (18 percent), vehicles and spare parts for them (10.6 percent), products from black metals (6.5 percent), and pharmaceutical products (4.5 percent).
