Iran intends to increase trade turnover with Turkey

The Iran-Turkey Joint Chamber of Commerce intends to increase trade turnover by creating a permanent exhibition in Turkey, Iranian Chairman of the Iran-Turkey Joint Chamber of Commerce Mehrdad Saadat Dehghan told Trend .

According to him, research of the Joint Chamber of Commerce shows that Iran could export more than $15 billion worth of goods to Turkey in 2020.

Saadat Dehghan added that in this regard, work is underway to promote Iranian products in Turkey. With the establishment of a permanent exhibition, the trade turnover between the two countries could reach $30 billion a year.

The chairman stressed that the exhibition will provide services to Iranian companies that cannot operate alone and create conditions for their trade. This exhibition will also operate online.

“The value of Turkey’s imports amounted to $219 billion and while its exports amounted to $169 billion in 2020. However, the value of Iran's exports to Turkey was about $2 billion. Of this, $1.2 billion was accounted for gas exports and the rest for other products,” he said.

As reported, Iran exported 6.3 million tons of goods worth $2.5 billion to Turkey and imported 4.8 million tons of goods worth $4.3 billion from Turkey over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).
