The exports of Iran's agricultural and food products increased by 8 percent in terms of value and 26 percent in terms of volume in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), the director general of the Trade Information Services Department of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) Abbas Khalegitabar said, Trend reports citing the organization.
According to the director general, Iran exported more than 7 million tons of agricultural and food products worth $6.17 billion within last Iranian year.
Khalegitabar added that moreover, $17.5 billion worth of petrochemicals and gas condensate, $7.5 billion worth of mining products, $3.53 billion worth of industrial products, $131 million worth of carpets and handicrafts were exported over the last Iranian year.
“The exports of carpets and handicrafts increased by 68 percent in terms of value and industrial products by 12 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year,” he said.
Iran's total foreign trade turnover amounted to about 146 million tons worth $73 billion in the last Iranian year. During this period, Iran exported 112 million tons of goods worth about $35 billion and imported 33.4 million tons worth $38.4 billion.
