About 23,000 tons of rapeseed have been purchased from farmers in Iran from April 6 to May 16, said Mohammad Taghi Tabatabaee, head of the public relations department of the Government Trading Corporation of Iran (GTC), Trend reports citing the corporation's website.
According to him, rapeseed was purchased from farmers in 9 provinces of Iran and the value of the purchased rapeseed was 2.5 trillion rials (about $59.6 million).
Tabatabaee added that the largest volume of rapeseed was purchased in Khuzestan Province. So, 20,000 tons of rapeseed were purchased from farmers in this province.
Reportedly, rapeseed has been planted on 350,000 hectares in Iran in the current Iranian year and 600,000 tons of rapeseed are estimated to be harvested.
One kilogram of rapeseed is purchased by the Government Trading Corporation of Iran for 110,000 rials (about $2.61).
A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice, and other products are purchased from farmers by GTC under a guarantee in Iran.
