Iranian Chamber of Commerce discusses potential of maritime and port sector

TEHRAN, Iran, May. 17

A member of the Non-Oil Export Development Commission of the Iranian Chamber of Commerce said that the removal of foreign and domestic obstacles is the precondition for the private sector`s investment in the maritime and port sector.

Referring to the impact that the revival of JCPOA on the maritime and port sector, Amman-Allah Kahrazi says that the revival of JCPOA will present a clear perspective to Iran's macro-economy, and the maritime and port areas are no exception, Trend reports citing Port and Maritime Organization (PMO) official website.

He went on to say that the development of the port and maritime sector requires the removal of internal and external.

“The government should play a supporting role for the private sector,” he added.

"Maritime transport is the most cost-effective way to transfer goods," he said. "Reducing shipping costs and shortening cargo handling time is of the most important merits of the maritime transport.”

He noted the necessity of shortening the customs clearance procedure.

Pointing to the tax sector, he says that better conditions should be provided for traders.
