BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 16

Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Slovenia is interested in deepening economic cooperation with Georgia and there certainly is a potential to expand bilateral economic ties, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia told Trend.

"We have noticed an interest of Slovenian companies for Georgia. Several have already expressed interest to take part in any future business delegation, events and forums including business delegations accompanying high-level political visits," the ministry said.

According to the ministry, there are currently no major bilateral projects between the two countries.

"We would encourage companies to participate in any future common projects," the ministry noted. "More prospective fields for fostering our economic cooperation including investments are in our view: renewable energy and energy efficiency, water management, sports equipment, food processing equipment, agriculture."

According to the ministry, there is also potential for closer cooperation in the field of logistics.

"Port of Koper could serve as the most effective and fastest way and entry point for Georgian goods entering EU and South East European markets," the ministry said.

"We welcome the decision to sign the MoU in the field of sustainable forest management between the relevant ministries," the ministry added.
