Number of enterprises launched in Iran's West Azerbaijan Province increases

The number of enterprises put into operation in the West Azerbaijan Province (northwestern Iran) increased by 27 percent during the first two months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through May 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, said Gholamreza Babaei, Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of the West Azerbaijan Province, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.

The chairman said that as many as 28 enterprises were put into operation in the West Azerbaijan Province within the mentioned period.

Babaei added that a total of 1.28 trillion rials (about $30.4 million) has been spent on the operation of the enterprises over the months. This is an increase of 63 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year.

“In general, 241 people were provided with jobs with the operation of these enterprises,” he noted.

Babaei stressed that there are currently 2,040 enterprises operating in the West Azerbaijan Province. In total, 74 trillion rials (about $1.76 billion) has been spent on the enterprises. At present, 58,200 people work in these enterprises.

Furthermore, at present, there are 309 industrial enterprises in the province with more than 60 percent physical progress in the construction. More than 23.7 trillion rials (about $566 million) has been invested in these enterprises. About 8,340 people will be employed after the operation of enterprises, according to him.

The chairman noted that 334 enterprises were licensed for establishment in the province during the two months. More than 21 trillion rials (about $501 million) will be spent on these enterprises and 6,230 people will be employed.
