In total, some 246,000 tons of rapeseed have been purchased from farmers in Iran from April 6 to July 5, 2021, an official of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad of Iran Gholamhossein Khedraei said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
According to Khedraei, the rapeseed was purchased by the Government Trading Corporation of Iran (GTC) and edible oil processing plants. Thus, 122,000 tons of rapeseed have been purchased by the GTC, and so far, about 88 percent of the money for purchased rapeseed has been paid to farmers.
The official added that 124,000 tons of rapeseed have been purchased from 10 edible oil processing plants. So far, about 87 percent of the money for purchased rapeseed has been paid to farmers.
“The mentioned amount of rapeseed has been harvested from 174,000 hectares of land,” he said.
Khedraei noted that the largest volume of rapeseed has been purchased in Khuzestan Province –101,000 tons, in Golestan Province – 70,000 tons and in Ilam Province – 20,000 tons.
Reportedly, rapeseed has been planted on 350,000 hectares in Iran in the current Iranian year and 600,000 tons of rapeseed are estimated to be harvested.
One kilogram of rapeseed is purchased by the Government Trading Corporation of Iran for 110,000 rials (about $2.61).
A number of products, including wheat, tea, rice, and other products are purchased from farmers by GTC under a guarantee in Iran.
