BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 28

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Kazakhstan offered Moldova’s entrepreneurs to use Kazakhstan-based international trade and economic centers for further export to countries of Central Asia and China, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Trade and Integration.

Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Trade and Integration, Kairat Torebayev, and Governor of Moldova’s Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, Irina Vlah, discussed the future development of trade and economic cooperation.

As noted during the meeting, the trade turnover between the two countries increases on an annual basis and despite the COVID-19 pandemic it amounted to $76 million in 2020, which is almost two times more than $38 million in 2019.

In particular, the parties talked about the significant prospects for cooperation in the IT sector, digital innovations, and industry. Vlah noted that Moldova has an Association Agreement with the European Union and conducts free trade with the EU.

"Kazakh producers and investors can use the territory of Moldova as a gateway to enter the EU market," she said.

In turn, Torebayev offered that Moldovan business uses the opportunities of the Khorgos and Central Asia cross-border International Trade and Economic Centers for export to the countries of Central Asia and China.

The parties also discussed the possibility of industrial cooperation in such areas as the food and light industry.
