Georgian company to open livestock farm based on european standard

The Georgian company Butrana LLC will open a livestock farm with advanced technologies in the second half of September, Trend reports referring to the Georgian media.

At this stage, the company is working on equipping the farm.

This complex will combine two areas: animal husbandry and training of farm personnel. According to the founder of the company, Jemal Khatiashivli, more than 1 million lari ($321,632) have been invested in the project.

The new farm will allow Butrana to expand production. At this stage, the company produces 20 types of cheese, for example, aged cheese, cheese ripened in honey, cheese with green and red pesto sauce, cheese with hazelnuts.

“Similar enterprises have been set up in other regions as well. This suggests that cattle breeding in Georgia is developing rapidly. Various projects are being implemented to develop animal husbandry in accordance with modern standards. We are following a 10-year action plan that provides substantial support to the livestock industry,” said Deputy Minister of Agriculture Giorgi Khanishvili during his visit to the farm.

To implement the project, Butrana LLC used a preferential agricultural loan in the amount of 325,000 lari ($104,530).

The company for the production of wine and cheese Butrana, located in the village of Tibaani, Signagi region, produces more than 20 varieties of cheese, qvevri wine, and table grapes.
