By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The exports of Iran from the Mirjaveh border checkpoint in the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (south-eastern Iran) increased by 160 percent during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General for Department of the Road and Transport Organization of Iran in Sistan and Baluchestan Province Masoud Nekudari said, Trend reports referring to the organization’s website.

According to Nekudari, within the 5 months, 350,000 tons of goods were exported to Pakistan by 15,600 trucks. Meanwhile in the same period last Iranian year, about 135,000 tons of goods were exported to Pakistan by 5,870 trucks.

The director general added that the exported goods were mainly liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), bitumen, and hydrocarbons.

“In addition, the transit of goods through the Mirjaveh border checkpoint for the reporting period increased by 133 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.

Nekudari noted that the Mirjaveh checkpoint is located close to the densely populated areas of Pakistan. This increases the importance of this border checkpoint.
