Tourism revenues peak in Georgia for 7M2021

Georgia received $505 million in tourism revenues in the first seven months of 2021, Trend reports citing the National Bank of Georgia.

The mentioned volume is 93 percent of what Georgia received in this sector for the entire 2020.

According to the National Bank, tourism revenues peaked in July and amounted to $205 million.

In August 2021, 266,544 international visits were made to Georgia, which is 510.5 percent more than in the same period last year.

Although this figure is higher than last year, it is more than 70 percent less than the figure for August 2019, before the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the document, most of the trips to Georgia in August 2021 were made by air - 156,101, on the next place of travel by land - 107,156, by rail - 2,691 and by sea - 596.

The three leaders among foreign visitors are Russia, Turkey, Ukraine.

Some 39,909 visitors arrived from Russia to Georgia in August,
