Number of mines launched in Iran declines

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Sept. 27

The number of mines launched in Iran decreased by 28.4 percent during first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the statistics of Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran.

A total of 187 mines in Iran were licensed over the reporting period to be launched. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 261 mines.

According to the statistics, 1,786 people were employed with the launch of these mines within 5 months, which is a decrease of 19.3 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 2,212 people were employed in the mines in the same period last Iranian year.

Furthermore, 172 licenses on exploration of mines in Iran were issued in five months. This is a decrease of 7.5 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian, 186 licenses had been issued in Iran.

In general, 815 billion rials (about $19.4 million) is to be spent on the exploration operations of mines.
