Iran boosts its trade turnover with EAEU member countries

Iran's trade turnover with the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) increased by 73 percent in value and 42 percent in volume, during the first eight months of the current year (March 21-November 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

According to Latifi, Iran's trade turnover with EAEU member countries for the reporting period amounted to 8.56 million tons worth $3.62 billion.

“So, Iran exported 1.84 million tons of goods worth about $764 million to the EAEU member countries in eight months, which increased by 18 percent in value and did not change in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said.

The spokesman also added that Iran imported 6.72 million tons of goods worth $2.86 billion from EAEU member countries over 8 months, which is an increase of 98 percent in value and 66 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

The customs official noted that between EAEU member countries, Iran has got most trade turnover with Russia within the mentioned period. Thus, Iran exported 700,000 tons of goods worth $375 million to Russia and imported 5.77 million tons of goods worth $2.56 billion from this country in 8 months.

Within the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2021), Iran exported a total of 83.7 million tons of goods worth $31.1 billion to various countries.

The exports increased by 42 percent in value and 10.5 percent, in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

In general, Iran imported 26.5 million tons of goods worth $32 billion from various countries in 8 months, which is an increase of 38 percent in value and 21 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

As reported, a temporary trade memorandum was signed between Iran and the EAEU on October 27, 2019. In accordance with the memorandum, 862 kinds of products will be imported and exported upon preferential tariffs between the two sides.

Iran will export 502 kinds of products and import 360 kinds of products. Iran will export pistachios, kiwi, oil products, raisins, cucumbers, cabbages, dates, medicines, cement, copper, methanol.

Iran will import barley, animal feed, vegetable oil, cathode, etc.
