Iran records increase in exports via Golestan Province’s customs

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 27

Iran’s exports through the customs of Golestan Province (north-eastern Iran) increased by 67 percent in value and 111 percent in volume, during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2021), compared to the same period last year, Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office Ebrahim Hosseini told IRNA, Trend reports.

Hosseini noted that about 279,000 tons of goods worth $133 million were exported through the customs of Golestan Province within 9 months.

The director-general also added that the main exported goods were cement, profile, dairy products, dates, potatoes, iodine, polystyrene and etc.

“These goods were mainly exported to various countries, including Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Pakistan,” he said.

Furthermore, Iran imported 14,200 tons of goods worth $40.9 million through the customs of Golestan Province in 9 months, which is an increase of 180 percent in value and 68 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year, according to Hosseini.

“The imported goods were mainly electrical regulators, fabric and so on, of which were imported from China, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Poland and Vietnam,” he said.

The official also pointed out that 10,600 tons of goods worth $10.8 million were transited through the province’s customs during the reporting period, which is an increase of 184 percent in value and 844 percent in volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

Hosseini stressed that the Golestan Province's customs revenues for the reporting period amounted to 530 billion rials (about $12.6 million). This is an increase of 329 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
