Number of flights from Iran’s Ahvaz International Airport soars

The number of flights from Ahvaz International Airport in the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by 14 percent, during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, as was reflected in the statistics of Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company (IAC), Trend reports.

According to the statistics, in total, 11,908 flights were carried out from the Ahvaz International Airport in 8 months. Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the figure stood at 10,411 flights.

At the same time, 951,434 passengers were transported via the airport over the reporting period. Passenger transportation decreased by 4 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 989,832 passengers had been transported through the airport in the same period last Iranian year.

“During 8 months, 9,909 tons of cargo were transported through Ahvaz Airport, which is an increase of 13 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, cargo transportation through the airport for the same period last Iranian year amounted to 8,764 tons,” the statistics said.

Iran's Ahvaz International Airport is located on an area of 2,450 hectares.
