Azerbaijan records rise in revenues to state budget from privatization and leasing of state property

The State Service on Property Issues under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan continues to work in the privatization and leasing of state property, Trend reports referring to the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In January 2022, the Azerbaijani state budget received a total of 7.3 million manat ($4.29 million) from this field.

According to the ministry, in January, five auctions were held in Azerbaijan, where stakes in nine joint-stock companies, two small state-owned enterprises, and 59 vehicles were privatized.

"In January, 47 e-applications for auctioned state property were received. During this period, seven mineral deposits were put into operation through auctions," said the statement.

One of the progressive methods of state property privatization is investment competition. Last month, an investment competition was held to sell state-owned shares of Sumgayit Construction Service OJSC.

State budget income from privatization for the first month of 2022 amounted to 4.54 million manat ($2.6 million), up by 9.5 percent compared to the same period in 2021.

As a result of the conducted monitoring and educational activities, the expansion of the rental base was ensured and an increase in the number of concluded lease agreements was recorded. So, 147 new rental contracts were signed in January, the ministry stated.

Furthermore, during this period, 34 lease contracts were extended and 27 such agreements terminated. Conclusions of lease agreements in January exceeded 4.6 times the 2021 result.

In January, the state budget got a total of over 2.76 million manat ($1.6 million) from the leasing of state-owned real estate, an increase of 1.4 million manat ($824,023) compared to the same period in 2021, said the ministry.
