Turkmen private enterprise cultivates orchards

Turkmen private enterprise "Erkin gurlushyk" has planted 30,000 grape saplings, 50,000 cherry saplings, 15,000 saplings of apple trees, blackberries, peach and quince trees, Trend reports citing the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.

Enterprise was allocated a land plot on the territory of the Oguzhan district of Turkmenistan’s Mary region in 2015.

Some 300 hectares of land are cultivated, where 100,000 apple trees are planted on 40 hectares, more than 4,000 varieties of grapes, vegetables and melons are planted on 30 hectares, 250,000 coniferous trees and 10,000 rose bushes have also been planted.

Turkmenistan would take measures to turn agriculture into a profitable sector of the economy.

Agriculture is one of the most important sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan. Wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetables, melons, fruits and berries are the main types of agricultural crops grown in the country.
