BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 28. The imports of Iran increased by 36 percent in value and 21 percent in volume, during the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), Director General of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Alireza Moghaddasi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

The director general noted that Iran imported more than 40 million tons worth $52 billion over last Iranian year.

“The imported goods were mainly necessary products, raw materials, and equipment,” he added.

According to Moghaddasi, Iran imported goods mainly from the UAE, China, Turkey, Germany and Russia.

Furthermore, 12.5 million tons of goods were transited through Iran within the last Iranian year, which is an increase of 68 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year, the official said.

In general, Iran's non-oil trade turnover for the last Iranian year amounted to 162 million tons worth $100 billion. This is an increase of 38 percent in value, compared to the preceding Iranian year.
