Kazakhstan sees increase in placed deposits value

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 31. The volume of deposits in Kazakhstan’s deposit organizations amounted to 27.7 trillion tenge ($60.5 billion) in February 2022, which is 3.4 percent more compared to January 2022 and 22.9 percent more than during the same month last year, Trend reports with reference to the data of Kazakhstan’s National Bank.

Deposits of legal persons increased in value by 1.7 percent to 14.1 trillion tenge ($30.8 billion), whereas deposits of physical persons increased by 5.2 percent to 13.5 trillion tenge ($29.6 billion).

In turn, the value of deposits denominated in the national currency (tenge) decreased by 1.1 percent in a month to 17.08 trillion tenge ($37.3 billion), whereas the value of deposits denominated in foreign currency increased by 11.5 percent to 10.6 trillion tenge ($23.2 billion).

The deposits dollarization level stood at 38.4 percent in February 2022 compared to 36 in Dec. 2021.

Tenge denominated deposits of legal entities decreased by 2.8 percent in February 2022 and have amounted to 8.6 trillion tenge ($18.9 billion), whereas foreign currency denominated deposits of legal entities increased by 9.8 percent to 5.4 trillion tenge ($11.8 billion).

Meanwhile, tenge denominated deposits of physical entities increased by 0.8 percent to 8.3 trillion tenge ($18.3 billion), whereas foreign currency denominated deposits of physical entities increased by 13.2 percent to 5.2 trillion tenge ($11.3 billion).

The value of time deposits amounted to 17.9 trillion tenge ($39.2 billion), having increased by 0.6 percent in February 2022 compared to January 2022.

The weighted average remuneration rate on time deposits of non-bank legal entities in tenge amounted to 10.3 percent in February 2022 compared to 7.2 percent in February 2021, whereas the weighted average remuneration rate on deposits of physical entities was 8.5 percent compared to 8.9 percent in February 2021.
