Turkey discloses cargo movement from Portugal via local ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1. Turkish ports handled 305,585 tons of cargo from Portugal from January through February 2022, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

Ships under the Turkish flag delivered 3,000 tons of freight from Portugal to domestic ports, and ships flying the flags of other countries – 292,696 tons.

During this period, Portuguese-flagged vessels transported 9,889 tons of cargo to Turkish ports. From January through February 2022, Turkish ports handled 390,317 tons of transit cargo from Portugal.

Turkey's ports transshipped 31.1 million tons of cargo in February 2022.

During the reporting period, cargo transportation by ships under the flag of Turkey through local ports amounted to 2.25 million tons, while freight traffic by ships under the flags of other countries reached 28.8 million tons.

In addition, Turkish ports handled 6.2 million tons of transit cargo in February 2022 whilst this figure totaled 64.46 million in January through February 2022.

During this period, cargo movement by Turkey's ships amounted to 4.6 million tons, and by ships of other countries amounted to 59.8 million tons.

From January through February 2022, Turkish ports transshipped 13.9 million tons of transit cargo.

Totally, Turkey transported 386.39 million tons of cargo in 2021 via its ports.

During the reporting period, freight transportation by ships under the flag of Turkey via domestic ports amounted to 29.9 million tons, whereas the cargo traffic by other countries' vessels reached 356.39 million tons.

Furthermore, Turkish ports transshipped 78 million tons of transit cargo in 2021.
