BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 5. Iran exported 4.18 million tons of goods worth about $1.84 billion to Afghanistan, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

According to Latifi, Iran's exports to Afghanistan decreased by 20 percent in value and 40 percent in volume compared to the preceding Iranian year (March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021).

“The reasons for Iran's decline in exports to Afghanistan are the conflict in Afghanistan, the imposition of a number of restrictions on the country's foreign trade, and the suspension of a number of projects by Iranian businessmen in Afghanistan,” he said.

The spokesman also noted that Iran imported about 17,000 tons of goods worth $19.5 million from Afghanistan last Iranian year. Imports increased by 360 percent in value and 200 percent in volume compared to the preceding Iranian year.
