BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 16. Iran’s imports increased by 35 percent in value and 29 percent in volume in last winter (December 22, 2021 through March 20, 2022), compared to the previous winter, the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

According to Latifi, Iran imported a total of 11 million tons of goods worth more than $16 billion in last winter.

“Also, the imports increased by 16 percent in value and 1 percent in volume compared to last autumn (September 23 through December 21, 2021),” he said.

In total, Iran's trade turnover for the winter amounted to 41.5 million tons worth $29.5 billion, which is an increase of 37 percent in value and 14 percent in volume compared to the previous winter, the spokesman said.

At the same time, the trade turnover in winter increased by 9 percent in value, while decreased by 4 percent in volume compared to autumn.

In general, Iran's trade turnover amounted to 164 million tons worth about $102 billion, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).
