BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 2. Iran’s non-oil exports through the customs of Golestan Province (north-eastern Iran) amounted to 35,500 tons worth $17.6 million, in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2022), Director General of Golestan Province Customs Office Ebrahim Hosseini told IRNA, Trend reports.

Hosseini stressed that the country’s non-oil exports through the province’s customs for the first month increased by 53 percent in value compared to the same month last year.

The director general added that the main exported goods were iodine, cheese, polystyrene, cement, ceramics, iron products, and etc.

“These goods were mainly exported to various countries, including Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Iraq and Afghanistan, and so on,” he said.

According to Hosseini, at the same time, Iran imported 1,250 tons of goods worth $1.45 million through the customs of Golestan Province in the 1st month.

“The imported goods were mainly raw materials, fabrics and soybean oil, and so on, of which were imported from Turkey, Turkmenistan, China, India and Kazakhstan,” the official noted.

Furthermore, 2,200 tons of goods worth $4.43 million were transited through the province's customs for the reporting month, which is an increase of 184 percent in value and 67 percent in volume compared to the same month last Iranian year, Hosseini also pointed out.

The director general emphasized that the Golestan Province's customs revenues for the first month amounted to 16 billion rials (about $380,000).
