BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 31. Coal production in Kazakhstan in March 2022 has increased, Trend reports via Kazakh Committee on Statistics.

According to the committee, this figure amounted to 10.7 million tons, which is 14.5 percent more than in March 2021, and 6.2 percent more than in February 2022.

Besides, coal production in Kazakhstan from January through March this year equaled 31.07 million tons, up by 7.4 percent on annual basis.

In March this year, Kazakhstan imported 37,300 tons of coal, which is decline of 28.4 percent compared to the same month of 2021 and growth of 13.7 percent compared to February 2022.

Coal imports by the country amounted to 113,900 tons in the first quarter of 2022, down by 11 percent year on year.

Kazakhstan exported 2.5 million tons of coal in March 2022, which is 2.6 percent less than in March 2021, but 2.1 percent more than in February this year.

Export of coal in 1Q2022 amounted to 9.2 million tons, which is 28.3 percent more than the same period of last year.

Total of 7.7 million tons of coal were sold on local market of Kazakhstan in March 2022, which is 22.6 percent more than in March 2021 and eight percent more than in February 2021.

From January through March 2022, 21.9 million tons of coal were sold on the local market (up by 0.4 percent on annual basis), said the committee.
