TEHRAN, Iran, June 6. Iran's government to
assign the control of Sungun Copper Complex over to East Azerbaijan
Province, the Deputy Governor of East Azerbaijan Province at
Economic Affairs Mohammad Kalami told Trend.
He pointed out that the complex will not be assigned to the private
sector and the East Azerbaijan Province is seeking to form a
joint-stock company with independent board members to manage the
complex.
He added that no specific decision regarding the assignment process has been made yet.
According to the official, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has
also decided to allocate 20 trillion rials (about$4 billion) to the
province's private sector working in agriculture, industry,
services, and startups fields. Another 20 trillion rials (about $4
billion) will also be provided to East Azerbaijan Province for
completing unfinished projects, and water transportation from the
Aras river to Tabriz.
Raisi has recently announced that Sangun Copper Complex in Varzeqan
County should be independent of state-owned plants and only East
Azerbaijan Province should be able to manage the profits.
