BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 13. Iran's trade turnover with African countries amounted to about 2.6 million tons worth more than $1.2 billion, over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

According to Latifi, Iran exported goods to 50 of the 55 countries on the African continent last year. Thus, Iran exported a total of 2.52 million tons of goods worth about $1.2 billion to African countries for the reporting period.

“Within last year, Iran exported $353 million worth of goods to Ghana, $254 million worth to South Africa, $125 million to Nigeria, $98 million to Mozambique, $77 million to Kenya, $73 million to Sudan, $67 million to Algeria, $55 million to Tanzania and $29 million to Somalia, $15 million to Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire),” he said.

The spokesman also added that Iran imported goods from 18 countries on the African continent in the last Iranian year. Iran’s imports from the mentioned counties amounted to 65,200 tons worth $60.3 million.

“So, Iran imported $14.6 million worth of goods from Tanzania, $7.47 million worth from Ghana, $7.25 million worth from Ethiopia, $6.44 million worth from South Africa, $6.3 million worth from Kenya, $4 million worth from the Seychelles and $3.85 million worth from Zimbabwe, $3.7 million worth from Eswatini and $3.57 million worth from Egypt,” the customs official noted.
