BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 13. The value of the retail trade in Kazakhstan amounted to 4.7 trillion tenge (approximately $10.9 billion) over the period from January through May 2022, which is 3.3 percent more compared to the same period of 2021, Trend reports with reference to the Committee of Statistics of Kazakhstan.

The volume of retail sales of goods by trading enterprises increased by 8.3 percent. The share of food products in the total volume of retail trade is 31.7 percent, of non-food products is 68.3 percent.

The largest share of the retail trade accounts for Almaty city. Some 30.2 percent of the total trade turnover accounts for this city.

The major part of the retail trade turnover accounts for Nur-Sultan city (14.4 percent), Karaganda region (9.1 percent), and East Kazakhstan region (9.6 percent).
