BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 27. The volume of tropical and subtropical fruits cultivated in Iran is expected to reach 9.3 million tons for the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), Director-General of Agriculture Ministry’s Tropical and Subtropical Fruit Bureau Zahra Jalili Moqaddam told IANA Trend reports.

The director general said that in total, about 9 million tons of tropical and subtropical fruits were cultivated in the country over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022).

“The main subtropical fruits cultivated in the country for last Iranian year were mainly citrus fruits, dates, pomegranates, and so on,” she added.

According to Jalili Moqaddam, Iran exported 748,000 tons of tropical and subtropical fruits worth $528 million within the last Iranian year.

The official also pointed out that Iran has several plans to carry out restoration work in the gardens. Thus, the mentioned plans will result in an increase in the quality and quantity of fruit, resulting in an increase in fruit exports in line with world standards.
