BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 4. Iran's imports from neighboring countries increased by 15 percent in value and 1 percent in volume, during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2022), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

The spokesman said that Iran imported a total of 4.43 million tons of goods worth about $5.63 billion from neighboring countries within 3 months.

Latifi added that Iran imported goods worth $3.42 billion from the UAE (an increase of 6 percent), worth $1.27 billion from Türkiye (an increase of 22 percent), worth $394 million from Russia (an increase of 22 percent), worth 196 million from Pakistan (an increase of 208 percent) and worth $194 million from Oman (an increase of 92 percent) in three months.

"Also, Iran imported goods worth $66 million from Kazakhstan, worth $41 million from Iraq, worth $13 million from Qatar, worth $8.3 million from Azerbaijan, worth $8.1 million from Turkmenistan, worth $4 million from Afghanistan, worth $1.7 million from Kuwait, worth $433,000 from Bahrain and worth $2 million from other countries in 3 months," he noted.

The customs official also pointed out that in total, Iran's non-oil trade turnover with neighboring countries for three months amounted to more than 20.9 million tons worth about $12.4 billion, which is an increase of 18 percent in value compared to the same period last Iranian year.
