BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 1. Inflation in Kazakhstan has amounted to 16.1 percent in August 2022 compared to the same period last year and to 1.4 percent compared to July 2022, Trend reports citing Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The food prices grew by 20.8 percent, non-food items grew in price by 15.5 percent and paid services increased in price by 10.1 percent.

In the food market, a significant increase in prices in annual terms was noted for granulated sugar - 92.8 percent, onion - 46.9 percent, flour - 41.4 percent. A decrease in prices was observed for beets by 12.4 percent, carrots - by 11.6 percent.

The increase in prices for non-food products in August 2022 (against August 2021) amounted to 15.5 percent. The price level for stationery increased by 60.5 percent, schoolbag, student backpack - 44 percent, personal goods - by 28.4 percent, detergents and cleaning products - by 26.6 percent, household appliances - by 24.2 percent, building materials - by 20 percent, children's shoes - 19.6 percent, furniture and household items - by 19.2 percent, dishes - by 16 percent, children's clothing - 15 percent, cars - by 14.6 percent, textiles - by 11.3 percent, books - by 10.9 percent, pharmaceutical products - by 10.7 percent.

Prices for paid services for the year (August 2022 to August 2021) increased by 10.1 percent. The price level for complex recreation organizations increased by 20.1 percent, catering services - by 18.4 percent, sanatoriums - by 15.3 percent, health care - by 14.9 percent, hairdressing and personal care services - by 13.8 percent, hotels - by 6.9 percent. Passenger transport services went up in price by 5.7 percent.
