IRICA reveals data on Iran’s imports from ECO member states

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 13. In total, Iran imported 1.79 million tons of goods worth $2.78 billion from the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2022), the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

The customs official said that Iran's imports from ECO member states for the reporting period increased by 38 percent in value, while decreased by 2 percent in volume compared to the same period last Iranian year.

"Within 5 months, Iran imported goods worth about $2.17 billion from Türkiye, worth $429 million from Pakistan and worth $78.4 million from Kazakhstan," he added.

Latifi noted that Iran also imported goods worth $32.6 million from Uzbekistan, worth $26.2 million from Tajikistan, worth $15.3 million from Azerbaijan, worth $14.4 million from Turkmenistan, worth $10.4 million from Afghanistan and worth $2.7 million from Kyrgyzstan in 5 months.

Iran's foreign trade turnover with ECO member states for the first 5 months of the current Iranian year amounted to 9.1 million tons worth $6.89 billion. Trade turnover increased by 39 percent in value compared to the same period last Iranian year.

The following ten countries are at present the member states of ECO: Afghanistan, Republic of Azerbaijan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Turkey, Turkmenistan, Republic of Uzbekistan.
