TEHRAN, Iran, October 3. Russia seeks to invest in Iran’s northern ports and increase transit, said Deputy Minister of Road and Urban Development Ali Akbar Safaei, Trend reports citing ILNA.
"The Russians will invest in northern ports' logistics to transit cargo," he said, adding that Iran and Russia have an agreement for the transit some 10 million tons of commodities.
Iran is pursuing to complete the Rasht – Astara Railway, to increase transit between the two countries and also plans to increase cooperation with Russia in the long term, he noted.
Safaei underlined that Iran would add five new ships to its fleet in the Caspian Sea in the upcoming months.
