Iran names volume of essential products unloaded at country’s ports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 1. More than 15.6 million tons of essential products were unloaded at Iranian ports, during the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2022), Trend reports citing Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the report, wheat, barley, corn, soybeans, rice, sugar and cooking oil were the main essential products unloaded at the country’s ports in 8 months. So, 3.85 million tons of wheat were unloaded in Iranian ports within the mentioned period, which is a decrease 0.4 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (3.87 million tons).

In addition, 1.47 million tons of barley were unloaded in the country's ports for 8 months, which is a decrease 39.7 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (2.44 million tons).

At the same time, 5.75 million tons of corn were unloaded in Iranian ports for the reporting period, which is 1.35 percent more than in same period last Iranian year (5.67 million tons).

Moreover, 2.4 million tons of soybeans were unloaded in the ports of the country during the mentioned period. This is a 32.3-percent increase compared to the same period last Iranian year (approximately 3.56 million tons).

Within 8 months, 170,000 tons of rice were unloaded in the ports, which is 3.7 percent more than in the same period last Iranian year (approximately 165,000 tons).

Also, 1.08 million tons of sugar were unloaded in the country’s ports in 8 months. This is an increase of 27.2 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year (853,000 tons).

About 864,000 tons of cooking oil were unloaded in Iranian ports in 8 months. This is 34.6 percent less than in the same period last Iranian year (1.33 million tons).
