BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 14. The volume of cargo unloaded for import purpose at Iran’s Genaveh port in Bushehr Province (southern Iran), increased more than 10 times, during the first two months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through May 21, 2023), compared to the same period in the last year, head of Iran's Genaveh Port and Maritime Department Kiyamars Jokar said, Trend reports.
“In 2 months, 1,546 tons of cargo were unloaded at Iran’s Genaveh port for import purpose, while the figure stood at 132 tons in the same period last Iranian year,” he said.
Jokar added that the unloaded goods were air conditioners, equipment and spare parts for factories and enterprises.
The official noted that in addition, 1,794 tons of cargo were unloaded at Genaveh port for transshipment within the mentioned period, which is an increase of 13 percent compared to 1,580 tons in the same period last Iranian year.
Meanwhile, a total of 11.7 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports for the 2nd month of the current Iranian year (April 21 through May 21, 2023). Of this, 7.01 million tons were loaded and 4.66 million tons were unloaded.
This is a decrease of 3.4 percent compared to the same month in the last Iranian year.
