INFLATION FOR 2005 TO BE 4,8% IN AZERBAIJAN

The inflation rate was 4,8% in the first half-year of the current year. The deflation level for June was 1,8% in the country, the Board chairman of the National Bank of Azerbaijan, Elman Rustamov told Trend. Totally, for two last months (May and June) the deflation index was 3,7-3,8%.

"We also expect the seasonal deflation in July and August. Meanwhile, we turn the screws on, fighting toughly and implementing clauses of the anti-inflation Decree. I believe we will come with good results by September, but they must be retained”, Rustamov noted.

The Minister of Economic Development, Farhad Aliyev noted, that on the results of January-June 2005, the inflation rate was 13,5% as compared to the similar period of 2004.
