FIRST CYPRIOT-AZERBAIJANI ECONOMIC FORUM HELD IN LEFKOSHE

The first Cypriot-Azerbaijani economic forum took place on 24 July in the capital city of the Turkish Republic of the Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Lefkoshe, Trend reports, citing the news site В"KKTC.BulВ".

The TRNC Minister of Economy and Tourism, Dervish Kemal Deniz noted addressing the forum, that it is the start of the long-term cooperation, having requested the both countries’ entrepreneurs to make a statement on the irrevocability of the course towards Azerbaijani-Cypriot ties development.

В"This event instills a great hope to Cypriot Turks and in case the forum will have no continuation, it will be impossible to remove isolation from the Northern Cyprus”, the minister noted.

Along with the businessmen, head of the TRNC Trade Chamber representation office in Azerbaijan Mustafa Evran, president of the TRNC Trade Chamber Ali Erel, head of the Azerbaijani-Cypriot center for economy, culture and cooperation, professor Fahreddin Sadikoglu, as well as director of the entrepreneurship development department under the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan Alihusseyn Shaliyev took part in the forum.

During his speech Shaliyev noted that there is a great potential in Azerbaijan for the activities of the Cypriot businessmen, having called them on to cooperate actively with the Azerbaijani side. Shaliyev pointed out at the large unused tourism potential of Azerbaijan, having analyzed in detail the successful cooperation with Turkey.

The forum participants have been demonstrated footages on the development of collaboration between Turkey and Azerbaijan.
