FEASIBILITY STUDY OF THE GARS-AKHALKALAKI-TBILISI-BAKU RAILWAY TO BE READY TILL LATE 2005

The feasibility study of the construction of the Gars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku railway will be developed till late 2005, the Transport Ministry told Trend.

Turkey to develop the feasibility study announced tender on selection of the consultant for designing of the document. The implementation of the feasibility study covering the term of the construction will start following the urgent completion of the tender. According to the estimates, it will demand 1.5 year.

The Ministry also noted that the meeting of the Azerbaijani, Georgian and Turkish Transport Ministers within the project is scheduled in Istanbul in August.

The length of the road comprises 98 km. The implementation of the project will demand $400m.
