COORDINATING GROUP FOR CONTAINER TRAFFIC ALONG AKTAU-BAKU-POTI/BATUMI ROUTE AND BACK SET UP

(РљР°vkaz-Press) вЂ" The Railway Administrations of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Kazakhstan set up a Coordinating Group for organizing the railway container traffic along the Aktau-Baku-Poti/Batumi route and backwards.

The group is currently working on determining the Forwarding Company to operate running of the container train to be launched from 1 October of the current year, the Railway Department of Georgia reported.

For stimulating and creating favourable conditions for the transit cargo flow increase, including container traffic, the unified tariffs will be applied. From 1 October of this year the sides plan to apply 50% discounts for railway container traffic along this route.

For the moment transportation of one container along this route is some $1200-1300, while along the northern route вЂ" about $900. 20,000-50,000 containers a year is planned to transport along the Kazakhstan-Azerbaijan-Georgia transport corridor.
