WB MISSION ON TRANSPORT EXPECTED
The World Bank (WB) mission on transport is expected to visit Azerbaijan in September 2005, the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry told Trend. The key objective of the visit is to discuss with the Transport Ministry on the development of transport infrastructure, reforms, in particular, the construction of automobile roads.
The Ministry said that the discussion will also concern the project on construction and reconstruction of the 243km Alat-Asatar highway, which requires $400m. The WB will cover $300m of the budget, while the rest part will be provided by the Azerbaijani government ($60m) and Iran ($40m).
The Ministry also said that Iran has given a principe agreement on issue of a $40m credit for the project.
