Since 1995 Azerbaijan has considerably increased the amount of goods turnover with different countries. Farhad Aliyev, the Minister for Economic Development, told journalists over the past 10 years the goods turnover grew 5.5 times, export grew 5.7 times.

However, the Minister noted that export potential of the country was not utilized fully due to both objective (in particular, absence of direct exit to the sea) and subjective reasons (in particular, absence of necessary package of products).

The Minister also noted that per capita export-import operations made up $900, whereas in Kazakhstan is makes up $2,100, in Baltic countries - $5,000, in Germany - $20,000.

"Today 80% of export operations fell on oil products, which is dangerous for the future of the country and necessitates the development of the non-oil sector,” the Minister underlined.

Aliyev also noted the necessity for the construction of stores and refrigerator reserves for the development of agriculture.
