AZERI TRANSPORT MINISTRY LIQUIDATES CONSEQUENCES OF ROCK FALL AT LERIK-LANKARAN HIGHWAY

The Azerbaijani Transport Ministry liquidates the consequences of the rock fall at the Lerik-Lankaran highway, the Ministry told Trend. The Ministry established a commission to control over the implementation of the work. Only one side of the highway is restored and passage of large capacity cars is banned.

The rock fall happened on the 20th km of the only highway linked the Lerik region with other settlements of the country on 11 September.

The total length of the highway is 53 km. 17 km is reconstructed, the restвЂ"repaired. The government allotted 50bn manats to implement the project.

“The reason of such natural phenomenon may be flood, earthquake. It is not exclude that passage of large capacity cars also promotes the rock fall,” experts said.
