AZERI AGRICULTURE MINISTER MEETS WITH ADVISER TO JAPANESE GOV’T

Ismet Abbasov, the Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister, received a Kenichi Osuga, the newly appointed adviser of the Japanese government for subsequent two years, on Thursday.

The International Relations Department of the Agriculture Minister told Trend the meeting centered on the results of work implemented at the expense of the Japanese government’s $20m grant allotted in 1998-2003. Approximately 800 pieces of agriculture technique was purchased at the expense of the funds.

Japan also participates in the project on Agriculture Investments and directed $380,000 for its development. A total of $3.3m is required for the implementation of the project, which stipulates the development of rural infrastructure.

Abbasov presented proposals on further cooperation, noting the perspective spheres for investing, establishment of joint ventures on manufacturing tomato paste, fruit tins and juices, broiler-reproductive poultry.

In his turn an official of Japan noted that work on study of the state in the said fields will be studied with an intention of further investment.
