AGRICULTURE MINISTER MEETS WITH ISRAELI

Ismat Abbasov, the Agriculture Minister, met with the newly appointed Israeli Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Artur Lenk, on Friday, the Agriculture Ministry told Trend.

The meeting focused on prospects of further cooperation with this country in agriculture.

The Minister informed the Ambassador on the results of the visit to Israel paid at the invitation of the Israeli Agriculture Minister, Israel Kats in June 2005, in particular, meeting with the representatives from Israel’s agrarian sector, different entrepreneurs of the country specialized in the spheres of wine-making and fruit-growing.

The Minister presented proposals on further cooperation, noting the perspective sphere for investing such as establishment of joint ventures on production of fruits tins and juices, establishment of citrus and olive plantations as well as exchange of experience.

In his turn Lenk underlined that entrepreneurs from Israel always supported cooperation with Azerbaijan in the agrarian
sector.

The proposals on the draft agreement on cooperation in the sphere of agriculture between the two countries have been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers.
