The cotton yield in the regions of Azerbaijan was 116,284 tons for 3 October 2005. This figure is higher by 131% or for 27,337 tons as compared to the previous year, the head of the grain-crops, industrial crops, forage crops, output and processing of the plant вЂ"growing production of the Ministry of Agriculture Ali Ismaylov told Trend.
According to him, the cotton harvesting is performed from the area of 115,000 hectares. В"Totally, the cotton yield forecast is defined as 185,000 tons. However, by the opinion of specialists who visited the plantations, in case of favorable weather conditions this index
may reach 200,000 tons, the Agriculture Ministry spokesman stressed.
The cotton in Azerbaijan is grown in the country’s 21 regions, particularly, in economic areas of Salyan-Mugan, Karabakh and Shirvan.
