РўURKEY ALLOCATED $1 MILLION FOR PREPARATION OF FEASIBILITY STUDY ON KARS-AHALKALAKI вЂ"TBILISI-BAKU RAILWAY CONSTRUCTION

Рўurkey allocated $1 million for development of the Feasibility Study of the Kars-Ahalkalaki- Tbilisi-Baku railway project construction, deputy Foreign Minister of Turkey Ender Arat told Trend on 6 October.

According to him, the document to be developed by the Turkish Yuksel Domonik will be ready till the year end.

According to him, the length of the railway line will be 98 km, from which 68 km is on the Turkish territory, 30 km вЂ" on the Georgia one. The railway line within Turkey till the Georgian border will be built in conformity with the European standards. For running the trains within the Georgian territory with its CIS railways standards change of wheels will be needed. Therefore, a relevant terminal will be built.

Arat noted, as for the funding, “financing may be allotted by the international financial institutions. In case of delay, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey can finance the project on their own means. The project’s cost is $360-400 million.
